A woman has sparked fury after intruding on a live news report covering the tragic attacks in Nottingham, walking into view of the camera and waving her arms around.

On Wednesday June 14, a vigil was held at the University of Nottingham in honour of late students Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, who were both 19 when killed in a stabbing in the city.

School caretaker Ian Coates, 65, was also a victim of the attack, having been found dead after being knifed and his van stolen.

During a live broadcast from Nottingham, Sky News reporter Sarah-Jane Mee was sharing some updates to viewers, explaining that where she was standing was ‘one of the sites in the city centre that the police are operating in’.

She explained that the broadcaster’s correspondent was on a different road in the city and that they were going to turn to them for more updates.

At that point, an unknown woman walked into view of the camera behind Mee, waving her arms in the air while other pedestrians strolled around.

Her actions were said to have sparked fury on social media, with one person describing the moment as ‘vile’.

Another said that she acted in an ‘absolutely disgraceful’ manner, MailOnline reported.

Huge crowds turned out for the vigil held in commemoration of Grace and Barnaby.

On Wednesday June 14, it was reported that a 31-year-old man remained in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

A vigil for the late students was held at the university, where the chaplain reverend Grant Walton began with an emotional statement.

‘This is one of those moments that we hope to never encounter, but which forces its way into our lives and leaves a trail of destruction that we could never imagine,’ he said.

‘Thank you for being here; students and staff of the university, community members, most especially the family and friends of our precious Grace and Barney who have travelled many hours to be with us.

‘The main point of being here is for us to talk with one another – not to be talked at.

‘To begin to process our grief, our feelings of trauma as individuals and as a community.’
