Fully restored Ford Escort RS Turbo up at auction – could go for bargain price
A classic 80s fast Ford is up for sale at auction, and it could go for a surprisingly low price.
The 1986 Ford Escort RS Turbo has covered just 83k miles, but has so far only attracted a top bid of £16,000.
The RS Turbo was a sought-after hot hatch back in the day, while this particular example has been the subject of a full five-year restoration project.
It was last serviced in November 2022, but has surprisingly only covered 100 miles since.
The 1.6-litre petrol engine originally produced 132bhp, but this RS model has a special upgraded hybrid turbocharger fitted – which means you could find a few extra horses under the bonnet.
Finished in class white paintwork, the stunning Turbo model has subtle side badging and spotlights attached to the front.
A quick look inside takes you right back to the 80s, with grey cloth trim, Recaro seats and the original stereo all in excellent condition.
And, for those wanting to explore the car’s history, there is an extensive folder of maintenance invoices, receipts, and photographs.
Collecting Cars, who are handling the sale, said: “This Ford Escort RS Turbo is a restored example of the era-defining performance hero… Having covered few miles since its last service with Ren-Sport in Middlesbrough, it would make an engaging companion for a new series of weekend B-road drives.”
The online auction ends on Sunday 11th June.
