The Friends actor’s loved ones confirmed the news of his death last week, at the age of 67.
Insiders have now claimed that star, who most notably played Mr Treeger in the beloved sitcom, died of a strong reaction to antibiotics – which reportedly caused him to go into a coma.
According to reports, he got an infection in his leg last month and, despite recovering, wasn’t feeling completely healed.
Before filming started on the second season of Somebody Somewhere, in which he starred opposite Bridget Everett, his doctor reportedly advised him to get checked out.
Things took a turn for the worse when Hagerty arrived at the hospital and was reportedly given an antibiotic that he reacted to.
TMZ reports that he had a seizure and went into a coma, but wasn’t able to recover.
Everett confirmed the news of his death last week with a heartfelt tribute to her co-star.
‘With great sadness, the family of Michael G Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles,’ she shared on Instagram at the time.

‘Mike, a devoted husband, is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn, his sister Mary Ann Hagerty, her wife Kathleen O’Rourke, and their daughter Meg.
‘He will be sorely missed.’
In a follow-up post, full of pictures from their time together, she added: ‘I loved Mike the instant I met him.
‘He was so special. Warm, funny, never met a stranger. We are devastated he has passed.
‘Mike was adored by the entire cast and crew of Somebody Somewhere. Our thoughts are with his wife and family.’
