Friday the 13th: The Game Will No Longer Be Available to Buy After This Year

Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be available to buy after this year, publisher Gun Interactive has announced.

It’s due to the expiration of the Friday the 13th licence, set for December 31 2023.

In a statement posted on the official Friday the 13th: The Game Twitter account, Gun said that after December 31, 2023, it will no longer be able to sell physical or digital copies of the asymmetrical survival horror multiplayer game. Though the statement notes the game will continue to be playable “through at least December 31, 2024,” provided you bought the game before the end of this year.

While there will be at least one more year of support for Friday the 13th: The Game after it is no longer available to buy, it is important to remember that the online servers were shut down nearly three years ago. So if you plan to buy this game, your only options of play are online via peer-to-peer matchmaking or by playing an offline match using bots.

Additionally, Gun reduced the base game’s price to just $4.99, and each piece of DLC content has been discounted to just $0.99. These prices remain “up until” the game is removed from storefronts at the end of the year.

Friday the 13th: The Game released back in 2017, and in the years following was met with legal disputes over the brand. This resulted in Gun halting all new work on the title in 2019. In 2021, Gun CEO Wes Keltner revealed all the canceled content that was originally planned, including an Among Us-styled werewolf mode.
