French Open picks: Iga Swiatek vs. Beatriz Haddad Maia prediction, odds
Iga Swiatek is on another rampage at Roland Garros.
The 22-year-old native of Warsaw, Poland, has yet to drop a set at the 2023 French Open and has won four of her eight completed sets (Lesia Tsurenko retired down 5-1 in Set 1 during their Round of 16 contest) by a 6-0 scoreline.
Swiatek is a massive -1400 favorite over Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia in the semifinals Thursday morning.
It has been quite a ride for Haddad Maia at Roland Garros.
Iga Swiatek vs. Beatriz Haddad Maia pick
The 27-year-old had never even made it to the third round of any Grand Slam before this week and her route to the semifinals has included four consecutive three-set victories and one of those was a nearly four-hour marathon against Sara Sorribes Tormo in the fourth round.
It was the longest match on the WTA Tour this season.
Not only will Haddad Maia need to rest and recover for the semifinals, but also she’ll need to take a massive step up in class.
Swiatek’s form is sizzling and that correlates to her spending a lot less time on court compared to the South American.
Haddad Maia has a strong serve and can play with power, but she’d need to be at the peak of her powers to have a chance to keep this match close, and with the way her run has unfolded that seems quite unlikely.

Perhaps Haddad Maia can keep things tight in the first set, but it’s hard to see any other result other than a Swiatek rout.
