Fortnite Drafts the Batman Who Laughs in a Surprise Comic/Game Release in Two Weeks

DC and Fortnite have revealed that Batman Who Laughs will be a surprise in-game release tied to the upcoming Batman/Fortnite: Foundation #1

Today, DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee announced that DC and Epix Games are once again mixing the worlds of Batman and Fortnite with a one-shot comic book, Batman/Fortnite: Foundation #1, that will be in stores on at the end of October.

Just like the previous Batman/Fortnite miniseries (which was just released as a hardcover), this one-shot will include a code within it that will allow Fortnite players to access a special Batman Who Laughs launch screen. Along with the launch screen, a Batman Who Laughs outfit will be available in the game’s shop after the comic book is released.

The one-shot, which will be released at the same time in nine other countries (Argentina, Brazil, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Poland, and Spain) will be co-written by Epic Games Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard, Christos Gage (who wrote the hit Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point series) and Scott Snyder, the acclaimed Batman writer who introduced Batman Who Laughs during the Dark Knights Metal crossover.

The art duties on the one-shot will be handled by Joshua Hixson (pencils and inks), Roman Stevens (colors) and AndWorld Design (letters). DC released the following preview pages that show Batman’s superhero colleagues helping to deal with an incoming interdimensional breach while Batman encounters The Foundation, a mysterious being from Fortnite Island…

Batman Who Laughs’ co-creator, Greg Capullo, will be providing a cover for the one-shot, with inker Jonathan Glapion…

Alex Garner will do a variant cover…

and Donald Mustard provides a premium variant cover…

there is a special loading screen that you can access through a code provided in the print copies of the comic book…

Not only that, but Epic Games, DC and Warner Bros. Consumer Products has worked out a detail with clothing dealer Extra Butter NY to release special Batman Who Laughs-themed T-shirts and sweatshirts…

By announcing the news now, Lee hopes that fans will have time to contact their local comic book retailers and reserve copies of the print copies of the comic book before they sell out.

Batman/Fortnite: Foundation #1 arrives at participating comic shops on Tuesday, Oct. 26.
