Forget Darth Vader: A More Powerful Sith Lord’s Debut May Break Star Wars

With Disney+ highlighting the history of the Mandalorians, now is the perfect time for these series to introduce Star Wars’ most powerful Sith Lord.

Darth Vader was incredibly powerful. Both the Jedi, the Sith, and many others sought to harness his immense power as the Chosen One for their own purposes. Vader’s name may live in infamy among the Sith but he’s hardly the only one. There have been many powerful Sith in the expansive history of Star Wars. The most powerful of them came from the era of the Old Republic and one, in particular, is legendary to fans of the franchise.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic brought a lot to Star Wars, as well as gaming in general. It also spawned a prequel comic series produced by Dark Horse under the same name. Though a lot of the story and characters from it haven’t crossed over into film or television, fans still hope that some of its most popular and beloved characters will. What they want to see most of all, however, is Darth Revan.

Star Wars Darth Revan Face and Lightsaber

Revan is, undoubtedly, one of the most powerful Sith Lords to have ever existed. Not only that, he’s one of the most powerful Jedi to have existed too. Like Vader, he started out as a rebellious Jedi and was turned to the Dark Side by a powerful Sith Lord. Also like Vader, he was eventually brought back to the Light again. Perhaps the biggest difference between them though is their accomplishments.

Yes, Vader brought the entire galaxy to heel under the rule of the Empire, but Revan did so much more. He fought and won the Mandalorian Wars for the Jedi. He was the one to defeat the Mandalorian’s leader, Mandalore the Ultimate, proving without a doubt his legacy as a fearsome warrior. When he became a Sith Lord, he broke free of the Sith Emperor’s control and created his own Sith Empire, establishing himself as a powerful Sith in his own right. When he turned to the light side again, he dismantled his old Empire and took down his former partner, Darth Malak. Therefore, he’s just as cunning as he is powerful.

If that wasn’t enough, Revan’s vengeance was so strong that he willed himself to survive beyond death. Part of him, which embraced the Light, became one with the force but another part embraced the Dark Side and literally rejected death. All of this so that he could get revenge on the Emperor, who, by that time, was already dead. It’s easy to see why Revan is such a legend to Star Wars fans. No other character has done quite as much as him.

That’s why fans want to see him made canon and not just a character resigned to Legends continuity. Though a Sith ship was named after him in The Rise of Skywalker, it’s hardly confirmation he exists in the canon. Right now, the only chance of that happening seems to lie in the Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett, and The Mandalorian. This may seem like a stretch since neither series focuses much on the Jedi, let alone the Sith. However, the connection Revan has to the Mandalorian people could easily lead to him being mentioned and subsequently brought back into canon.

The most notable connection is Revan’s appearance, as he famously wears a Mandalorian mask. This iconic look came during the Mandalorian Wars as explained in Dark Horse’s Knights of the Old Republic #42 (by John Jackson Miller, Ron Chan, and Michael Atiyeh). This iconic war could be his entryway into one of the Disney+ series. As Din Djarin is seemingly discovering more and more of his people’s history, it seems almost inevitable that the Sith Lord will be mentioned in The Mandalorian. Revan did defeat Mandalore the Ultimate after all. Another possibility is through Boba Fett’s current crimelord troubles. Maul’s past connections to the Pykes mean some Sith artifacts could be in their possession, including something of Revan’s. Fett could uncover it during his upcoming conflict with them.

Though this is all speculation, for now, the Mandalorian connection is currently the best bet for making Revan canon. He almost made it into The Clone Wars once before, so a Disney+ cameo could very easily still happen.
