Ford dealership employee in Wis. killed at work remembered as ‘jack of all trades’
A Wisconsin dealership employee who died on the job in late March doing electrical work was a “jack of all trades” who volunteered in his community, according to his obituary.
Nicholas Jozefowski, 42, of Johnson Creek, Wis., died March 29 at Ewald’s Venus Ford, a dealership in the Milwaukee suburb of Cudahy. Police were dispatched to the dealership that afternoon where Jozefowski was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Cudahy Police Department news release.
Jozefowski was later identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. His death was preliminarily ruled an accident.
Jozefowski had worked in automotive and trades for “the majority of his life,” according to his obituary. Jozefowski — a general maintenance employee at Ewald’s Venus Ford for the past five years — was not a licensed electrician but worked on electrical issues and other odd jobs there, according to the medical examiner’s report.
The cause of death is still pending, according to the medical examiner’s office.
An executive at Ewald Automotive Group, which owns the dealership where the accident took place, declined to comment.
Jozefowski had been switching out overhead lights in the service area of the building before his death, according to the medical examiner’s report. Another employee later found Jozefowski unresponsive on top of a scissor lift. A wire was hanging from the ceiling above him. Jozefowski had what appeared to be electrical burns to his left and right palms, and resuscitative efforts were unsuccessful, according to the report.
The Cudahy Police Department said the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner were involved in its investigation.
