Force MDs star Jessie Lee Daniels has died at the age of 57, with the band paying tribute to the late musician.

The star, also known as Jessie D, was best known for being part of the iconic R&B group, with hits including Tender Love.

The band paid tribute on Facebook, writing: ‘To one hell of an entertainer ‘Jessie D’ of legendary Force MDs.

‘He ate, sleep and breathe music everyday. Please put a heart up for him. He was loved!!!!!!!! To the family, friends and fans today we lost a real talent. Our condolences goes out to his siblings, kids, and the Force MDs… [sic].’

Force MDs formed in New York in 1981 and are best known for their tracks Tender Love and Love is a House.

The group consisted of brothers Stevie D, Antoine ‘T.C.D.’ Lundy, and Rodney ‘Khalil’ Lundy, with their uncle, Daniels.

Later, ‘Trisco’ Pearson and Charles ‘Mercury’ Nelson joined the group.

They began performing on New York City street corners, before signing a record deal in 1984 and releasing their first album, Love Letters.

Tender Love was released in 1985, and was featured in the film Krush Groove, peaking at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Love is a House was released in 1987 and became the band’s first R&B number one.

In 1995, Nelson died of a heart attack, while Lundy died of Lou Gehrig’s disease in 1998.

Pearson then died in 2016 after battling stage four cancer.

The band released six studio albums overall, with their last release being in 2000.
