Five ways to save at the 2023 Stratford Festival

The Stratford Festival’s 2023 season features some 13 productions, from Shakespeare and Canadian classics to new works and celebrated musicals. With performances beginning this Saturday and running through the end of October, here are five ways to save on tickets and squeeze in more shows within your budget.

Pay-what-you-wish performances

All 13 productions this season feature pay-what-you-wish performances, so audiences “can experience theatre at a price they feel comfortable paying,” the company says on its website. Tickets start as low as $10. Some pay-what-you-wish shows are already sold out, so be sure to reserve your seat early.

Rush tickets

Starting two hours before showtime, audiences can save up to 50 per cent by purchasing rush tickets. These discounted seats are not offered at all performances and aren’t available online. To purchase a rush ticket, patrons can visit the box office in person or, for most performances, call 1-800-567-1600.

2-for-1 evenings

As its name suggests, this deal offers two tickets for the price of one. The deal is available for most evening performances on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is applicable for all 13 productions this season.

Bohemian Zone

Rentheads, rejoice! Fans of Jonathan Larson’s musical “Rent” can score great seats on the cheap thanks to the Stratford Festival’s Bohemian Zone discount, with front-row seats on the left and right sides of the theatre starting at $29.

Play On tickets

Youth and young adults between 16 and 29 can purchase tickets starting at $24 through the Stratford Festival’s Play On discount, with seats in the highest tier going for a modest $54. Those eligible must register beforehand either online or by calling the box office. Once registered, you must log in and select “Play On” prices. Tickets must be picked up in person with valid photo identification.
