Fitness influencer’s husband takes her name

Newly married Keep It Cleaner co-founder Laura Henshaw and her husband have been flooded with praise for making a progressive move.

Fitness influencer and businesswoman Laura Henshaw and her husband have sparked a progressive conversation online about men taking their wives’ surnames.

The Keep It Cleaner co-founder married Dalton Graham on Friday, with Dalton becoming Mr Henshaw.

Over the weekend, stunning pictures paired with #TheHenshaws flowed onto social media.

Dalton acknowledged the decision, saying he was “mildly excited to break the shackles of two first names”.

“You can still call me, Dalton, Dalt, Dolphin, whatever you like … I’m still the same me and always will be, just going to sign off one chapter and start another with my beautiful, driven and inspirational wife by my side as Mr Henshaw,” he wrote on Instagram.

The comments section was then flooded with praise, with fans saying it should be normalised.

“He took her last name and I’m LIVING for it,” one fan wrote.

“Love this so much. If a couple want to share a name, it should be the name that works best for them both, not automatically the man’s name. More of this! More men like you – less ego, full love,” another wrote.

Others shared their own experiences or desire to do the same.

“My dad took my mum’s last name, welcome to the club,” one wrote.

The Melbourne couple had postponed their wedding multiple times due to the pandemic, but finally got their “dream” wedding in Victoria’s Yarra Valley over the weekend.
