Find out what time Doctor Who: The Power Of The Doctor is on tonight
All good things must come to an end as Jodie Whittaker’s time in the Tardis draws to a close.
That’s right, Whittaker’s time as the 13th Doctor in BBC’s hit sci-fi drama Doctor Who has reached its final moments in a bumper 90-minute special for the broadcaster’s 100th anniversary.
We already know that Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa will be taking over the storied role, with Russell T Davies returning to the show he successfully rebooted back in 2005 with a trilogy of specials next year.
David Tennant and Catherine Tate will also be back in the 2023 specials – set to commemorate the show’s 60th anniversary – with many hoping that tonight’s final adventure for Whittaker will reveal more details about their mysterious return.
But before all that, fans must first bid an emotional farewell to Whittaker with The Power Of The Doctor. Here is when you can tune in…
What time is Doctor Who: The Power Of The Doctor on?
Whovians will be able to watch The Power Of The Doctor on BBC One tonight – Sunday, October 23 – from 7.30pm.
You can also stream the episode live on BBC iPlayer.
It is a feature-length special, running a total of 90 minutes, finishing at 9pm.
Talking exclusively with Metro.co.uk Jodie Whittaker spoke about moving on from the role, saying ‘no job is going to be like this for us.
‘We know that. So what you want and what you kind of crave next is a challenge because every day was a challenge on this.
‘And I think it doesn’t matter what genre it is, or what kind of job it is, I just want to feel energised and I want to feel that fear. I love the fear of it, of not knowing whether you can do something and every day with Doctor Who, you felt like you jumped and you didn’t know if you were going to land – and I love that feeling.’
Is there a trailer?
There sure is, and you can watch it below.
Whittaker’s final trip in the Tardis will see her take on a gallery of The Doctor’s most famous and formidable foes, including The Master (Sacha Dhawan), the Daleks and the Cybermen.
She won’t be alone in her fight though, as she will have the support of her loyal companions in the form of Yaz and Dan, played by Mandip Gill and John Bishop.
Some old friends will also be stopping by with Janet Fielding returning as Tegan Jovanka – the companion to the fourth and fifth Doctors – and Sophie Aldred as Ace, the companion to the seventh Doctor.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall has promised that this is an epic episode for the fans, packed full of easter eggs from the show’s past.
‘There are surprises still to come – big, big surprises,’ Chris told Metro.co.uk of the highly-anticipated episode.
‘It’s probably the biggest episode of Doctor Who we’ve yet made. It features the return of Tegan and Ace from the classic series of Doctor Who, Janet Fielding and Sophie Aldred who are phenomenal.
‘It has an evil trio of monsters – the Daleks, Cybermen and The Master, played by Sacha Dhawan. And Sacha playing the Master as you’ve never seen him before in Doctor Who. It goes all across time and space, it’s connecting the past, present, and future of Doctor Who, it’s very exciting, it’s funny, and there will be tears at the end of the 13th Doctor.’
