Final Fantasy XVI Playable Demo to Release on June 12th
Final Fantasy XVI is launching in a little over ten days, but fans of the series don’t have to wait until June 22nd to try out the game, as the previously announced playable demo is launching very soon.
The demo, which will release on June 12th as confirmed during the game’s pre-launch event, will allow players to try out the first couple of hours of the game and even import their progress into the final version of the game once it becomes available on June 22nd worldwide. Those who complete the demo will also be able to unlock a special battle demo that will allow them to delve deeper into the game’s combat system.
Final Fantasy XVI’s biggest difference over past entries in the series is its action combat system, which was clearly influenced by character action games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. While those who love turn-based combat may be disappointed in the direction the series seems to be taking, it is undeniable that combat looks great in motion, as showcased by a recent gameplay video that shows fights against some Notorious Mark enemies, such as the Grimalkin and Atlas.
Final Fantasy XVI launches on PlayStation 5 on June 22nd worldwide. You can learn more about the next entry in the series by checking out Kai’s hands-on preview.
Being able to finally see the townscapes and dabble around in side quests, as mundane as delivery fetch quests can be before an introduction, does give me some hope for Final Fantasy XVI being able to bring the RPG part of the equation to the forefront without making sacrifices to accommodate for the action gameplay.
