Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Delivers High-Seas Adventure, a Visual Upgrade, More in 2024
Today at the big Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023, Square Enix and producer Naoki Yoshida revealed the next major expansion for the popular MMORPG (update 7.0) coming in 2024. Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail will offer an adventuresome high-seas theme with players setting sail to the Tural region. This new continent is inspired by South and Central America and Mayan/Aztec culture, and as such, your journeys may see you stumble upon a lost city of gold. This is meant to be the start of a new storyline after the Endwalker expansion wrapped up the epic arc that had run through the game to that point. You can check out a quick teaser trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, below.
Yoshi-P also provided a peek at some of the new areas included in Tural, including the mountainous Urqopacha region and lush Yak Tel forest.
As for what else you can expect, the level cap will increase to 100, multiple new jobs are being introduced, and every job will get new skills. Of course, you can also look forward to new dungeons, raids, and other challenges similar to those seen in past expansions.
Finally, Final Fantasy XIV is also getting a graphical update, which will offer higher-quality textures, materials, lighting, shadows, and more. As a result, Square Enix will be boosting FF14’s PC system requirements once update 7.0 hits. Here are the new ones, below.
