Final Fantasy 16’s India Sale Analysis

Games analyst, Rishi Alwani has provided us with some comprehensive sales analysis for the game. Firstly, the pre-orders for Final Fantasy XVI is at its record highest for the franchise in the country. There were a few contributing factors to them reaching this record number, with the first one being an immersive and exciting demo, which help convert some last-minute preorders in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

Furthermore, pre-order bonuses for title on retail and the fact the game was releasing in June also helped in driving up the sales. Due to that, the game has managed to procure over 5,000 pre-orders in retail alone and it is being speculated that another 5,000 comes from digital sales, making the number reach 10,000 units.

To put things into perspective, FF15 was able to push 5,000 copies in its lifetime, during a time when there were more than 100,000 PS4s in India., FF16 on the other hand is riding on the fact that there are already 200,000 PlayStation 5s in the country, making it easier for more players to enjoy the game.

Furthermore, a comparision reveals that FF 15 has sold 5 million units worldwide at launch and 10 million units by the end of 2022, which includes all platforms including PC, PS4 and Xbox One. On the other hand, Final Fantasy 16 has managed to hit the three million mark within a week and that too, just on PlayStation 5. However, to break the number set by FF15, Square Enix will have to go for PC release and also at a lesser asking price than the INR 4,799 on PS5.
