‘Waiting for a friend’ is not a good enough excuse, but it was the Ferrari’s windows that had police even less impressed.

The Tweet from the Central Motorway Police Group read: ‘M6 J10 we stopped a Ferrari 488 spider having seen it parked on the hard shoulder of a motorway waiting for a friend.

‘When stopped the windows were only letting in 31% of light, tints ripped off and FPN issued.

‘Hard shoulder is no place to stop and wait for friends.’

By law, a car’s front side windows must allow at least 70% of light.

The front windscreen should allow at least 75%.

The police uploaded a picture of the bright red Ferrari pulled over by the side of the road.

The next image is the Ferrari’s window with a window tint light meter attached to it.

The meter shines light through the glass and gives a percentage reading to the police that is used to determine whether or not a window is illegal.

In this case the window was, so the tints were removed and a fine was issued.
