Fast X Director Teases the Ending of the Series As ‘Satisfying and Truly Surprising’
Fast X director Louis Leterrier says that the movie makers know exactly how they want to end the long-running franchise. It’s already well known that Fast X will serve as part of the final chapter of the series. Recent reports have suggested that it will be a two-parter to end the series. However, recent comments by Vin Diesel have suggested that it might even be a trilogy before we hear Diesel saying ‘family’ for the last time.
Fast and Furious Series Ending
Louis Leterrier in a recent interview with Collider said that the franchise’s ending will be “both sort of satisfying and truly surprising.” He said, “What I can tell you is that we know exactly where the franchise ends today. We know where we’re ending. The roads we’re going to take are going to be different, but we know where it all ends, and I know as a fan it’s both sort of satisfying and truly surprising.”
The director also acknowledges that it becomes tricky to deliver the right movie due to fan service which is expected, especially for series-ending movies. “As you know, fan service is tricky because you want to deliver the right thing, but you wanna surprise the people, you don’t want to give them exactly what you know everybody’s expecting the Fast & Furious franchise, where it’s going to end up,” said Leterrier.
Leterrier has directed several movies which have went on to start a franchise. He directed the first two Transporter movies, Clash of the Titans, and Now You See Me. All of these movies had sequels released. It will be interesting to see Leterrier now working on an already-established franchise and how he delivers one of its final chapters.
Fast X is set to release globally on May 19.
