‘Fascinating’ attraction in popular Spanish hotspot is named Europe’s best
A new study from the travel experts at Iglu Cruise has found Europe’s best rated tourist attraction.
The team looked at data from Tripadvisor to find the attractions with the most five star reviews.
A “fascinating” attraction in a leading Spanish holiday destination took the top spot on the list.
However, only the National Gallery made the list from the UK and landed at the bottom in 15th place.
Several Spanish spots topped the ranking while attractions in Germany, Vatican City and Italy were also included.
The Mosque-Cathedral in Cordoba, one of southern Spain’s top holiday destinations, took first place on the list.
The stunning monument reflects the area’s history of Islam and Christianity. Now, a Renaissance church sits on the site which was once a mosque.
A tourist ‘Cherry_Wonderdog’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “The combination of different architectures and the juxtaposition of religious influences made Mesquita quite fascinating and beautiful.”
While in Cordoba, tourists can also see some of the city’s famous gardens, many of which are decorated with colourful flowers and fountains.
The city can also be visited on a day trip from Seville, which is home to another of the country’s best-rated attractions, the Alcazar of Seville.
St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City took second place on the list while Hamburg’s miniature wonderland took third place.
