Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar release wedding photos
Farhan Akhtar, an actor and filmmaker, and his wife, Shibani Dandekar, an actress and singer, have published their first photos since their wedding on Saturday. The pair took to Instagram to share photos from their wedding day.
“A few days ago, @shibanidandekar & I celebrated our union and we are deeply grateful to all those who did respect our need for privacy on that day. The celebration, however, is incomplete without sharing some precious moments with you and seeking your blessings as we begin our journey across the skies of time, together. With love from us to you.” Farhan shared with a carousel of photos from their wedding day.
Shibani also shared two Instagram images with many photos from the wedding, captioning them “Mr & Mrs” and “Hey there husband,” respectively. Fans and industry colleagues congratulated the actors on their social media posts.
They got married at Sukoon, Khandala, at the house of Farhan’s parents, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi. The wedding was a small, intimate gathering. Shibani’s sister Anusha Dandekar, Rhea Chakraborty, Farhan’s sister Zoya Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan and his family, and Amrita Arora were among the guests at the wedding.
Farhan wore a black Indo-western outfit to the wedding ceremony, while Shibani wore a red gown with a veil. Following the wedding, musician Shankar Mahadevan sang the title song from Dil Chahta Hai, to which everyone swayed. On their famous song Senorita, Hrithik Roshan also danced with Farhan. Farhan’s father, lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar, performed a poem for the pair at the event, according to reports.
Farhan and Shibani registered their marriage on Monday and held a celebration for their friends and family at their Mumbai home later that day. The pair even gave out sweets to the photographers stationed outside their home in their first public appearance since the wedding.
In 2015, Shibani and Farhan met on the set of the reality TV show I Can Do That, where Farhan hosted and Shibani was a competitor. They did not come out as a couple until 2018 when they attended Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s wedding reception together.
According to previous reports, they had planned a large-scale wedding for family, friends, and colleagues in March, but had to change their plans because of the recent increase of Covid-19 cases.
