Fantasy Football Injury Updates: Latest news on Dak Prescott, Baker Mayfield affecting Week 8 lineup decisions

Quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Baker Mayfield have been banged up in recent weeks, and their statuses heading into Sunday is in question. Dak has been a fantasy superstar this year, and his health will likely affect all leagues (and several pass-catchers), while Mayfield’s status will primarily affect two-QB/superflex leagues (and himself). We have the latest news on the two gunslingers below so you can plan ahead with your Week 8 fantasy start ’em, sit ’em decisions.

WEEK 8 FANTASY: Sleepers | Busts | Start ’em, sit ’em

Dak Prescott injury update

Prescott (calf) didn’t practice Monday, but he took part in individual drills Wednesday. The Cowboys remain optimistic he’ll take the field on Sunday night against the Vikings, so we’ll remain optimistic, too.

It’s worth noting Minnesota has vastly improved its defense and is a top-five unit against QBs so far this season. That said, this Cowboys’ offense is borderline matchup proof, so we still rank Prescott as the QB7 of Week 8. If he’s out, it would certainly be a huge hit for pass-catchers Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and Dalton Schultz. It could also affect Ezekiel Elliott like we saw last year. You’re still starting Cooper, Lamb, and Zeke, but Schultz and Gallup become riskier.

WEEK 8 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

Baker Mayfield injury update

Ahead of Wednesday’s practice session, Kevin Stefanski said he expected Mayfield (left shoulder) “to do everything” in practice. We’ll have to follow his status to see how practice went but considering he wasn’t limited, there’s a solid chance he is the conductor of the Browns’ offense against the Steelers.

WEEK 8 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

However, unless you’re in a deep two-QB/superflex league, it’s tough to trust Mayfield against a talented Steelers’ defense. In our rankings, we have Case Keenum at the No. 29 spot (out of 30) among QBs, and Mayfield wouldn’t rank much higher if he is ready to go.
