Family-friendly LGBTQ+ events in the capital in June 2023
Every year, Pride Month is celebrated in June, as members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies celebrate their identities, accomplishments, and reflect on the struggle for equality.
Proceedings will culminate in the spectacular annual Pride parade in central London – which this year will take place on Saturday July 1 – but as usual you can look forward to loads of events and celebrations leading up to the big day, in London and beyond.
If you’re looking to mark the month with something family-friendly though, what events are taking place that you can also take the kids to?

Here’s some of the events taking place across the month…
Pride Parade Family Zone
If you’re taking younger members of the family along to the Pride parade in central London, the good news is that there’s a zone along the route dedicated to families.
Head to St-Giles-In-The-Fields, near Shaftesbury Avenue for family-friendly activity which will include music, children’s entertainment, activity from the Scouts, and food and drink as well as community stalls.

Rainbow Pride Craft
Waltham Forest Libraries is getting on board with Pride this year, with two free craft sessions open to all ages.
Your little ones will get to make a rainbow paper chain to mark the month, in this celebration of all things Pride and being who you are.

Mama G’s Family Pride Party
Join pantomime dame Mama G as her Pride Party returns for a third year. Expect an afternoon of family-friendly fun with appearances from authors, illustrators and other local talent, as well as food and drink, stalls and workshops. Not to mention a performance from Mama G herself.
The event runs from 12pm – 6pm, with the entertainment beginning from 1pm and ending in the event’s own Pride parade. Tickets are free, with donations accepted on the door in aid of

Desire, Love, Identity – an LGBTQ tour of the British Museum
This one’s for older children and teens, with the London landmark offeringvolunteer-led guided tours of artefacts with an LGBTQ connection.
The 70-minute tour will cover significant objects from the ancient world to the present day, and also includes some of the museum’s most famous artworks.
Suitable for ages 12 and up, this event is currently sold out – but keep an eye on the website to see if more dates are added.

Family Pride Day @Royal Arsenal, Woolwich
You’ll have to wait until the end of July for this one, but this new venture for the Family Arts Festival will allow all ages the chance to celebrate Pride – albeit belatedly – with their first-ever Family Pride Day.
Expect storytelling, arts and crafts, shows, food and drink and a whole lot more going on, including performances from 90s popstar Lolly, BGT semi-finalists Dame Nation, comedian Richard Energy and Britain’s first out Muslim drag queen Asifa Lahore.
It all culminates in a Pride parade where you’ll be able to join in alongside Elmer The Patchwork Elephant.
