Fake samajwadi dynastic policies stopped UP’s development: Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday attacked the SP-RLD alliance, which has been claiming the legacy of former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh. Modi said that when the SP was in the government, these fake Samajwadis stopped the flow of development in UP.

PM Modi was supposed to address a rally in Bijnor, UP, but due to inclement weather, he couldn’t travel and addressed the rally virtually instead. Addressing the voters of three districts — Bijnor, Moradabad and Amroha — Modi appealed to farmers not to get misled by these parties. The three districts, comprising 18 assembly seats, will vote in the second phase on February 14.

“I would like to remind farmers, and the entire west UP, of one more thing. Ask people who are trying to mislead you today how much power was supplied to your villages when they were in power?” Modi said. “The government at the Centre and the BJP government of UP is committed to bring back the honour and rights of our farmer brothers.” Payment to sugarcane farmers has been an issue in West UP. He said payment of more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore have been made to the sugarcane farmers.

Raising the issue of urea available to farmers, Modi said the BJP government has restarted the Gorakhpur Fertiliser Plant, which was closed for years. “The neem-coated urea, which is produced there, will benefit farmers in the entire state,” he added.

Regarding the MSP issue, Modi said: “You will be surprised to know that the Yogi Adiyanath government has purchased at MSP more than double the wheat as compared to that purchased by the previous dispensations,” he said. The Yogi government has made a record every year in terms of purchasing foodgrain.”

He praised the Yogi Adityanath government for equitable distribution of resources and development. Meanwhile, addressing a virtual rally in Haridwar, Modi said the assembly elections in Uttarakhand is a fight between those who created the state and those who conspired to block its creation. Calling the previous Congress governments ‘double-brake’ ones, Modi said that the previous Congress governments in Uttarakhand and at the Centre were not allowing development in the state because it was created against the party’s wishes. “Non-implementation of the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line during the Congress rule is a burning example of their anti-development approach,” he said. “The Congress has committed the sin of throttling the dreams of Uttarakhand. The people of the state will not forgive it.”

He appealed to the people to remember the sins of the Congress while casting their vote on February 14. Modi said the people of Uttarakhand should vote for a double-engine government under the young leadership of Pushkar Singh Dhami so that big development projects can be carried out uninterrupted.
