Marco Silva faces a second FA charge for his comments about referee Chris Kavanagh after Fulham’s 3-1 defeat against Manchester United last weekend. Silva was shown red with Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic in a moment of madness at Old Trafford that scuppered hopes of an FA Cup semi-final.
After the extraordinary collapse, Silva was charged along with Fulham and Mitrovic for using ‘abusive and/or insulting words and/or gestures and/or behaviour’ towards the referee and fourth official.
On Monday afternoon, the FA confirmed that Silva had been charged again for his post-match comments criticising Kavanagh.
A statement read: “Fulham’s Marco Silva has been charged with misconduct for comments that he made in a press conference after The FA Cup tie against Manchester United on Sunday, March 19.
“It’s alleged that his comments constitute improper conduct in that they imply bias and/or question the integrity of the match official and/or bring the game into disrepute.
“The manager has until Wednesday, March 29, to provide his response.”

In his post-match press conference, Silva slammed Kavanagh for a series of decisions that have gone against Fulham this season.
“I know our story with Chris Kavanagh this season has been tough for us as a football club,” he told reporters.
“I know as well the referee. We had that West Ham game away from home when we lost with two clear handball goals. We lost the game, and it was Chris Kavanagh in that moment.
“There were two moments in the box, in their box, that Mitro was involved. No one checked, no one cared about the situation. And that’s it.
“Unfortunately for us, we have been very unlucky with Chris Kavanagh this season, many moments. It is difficult to understand some of the decisions.”
Silva faces a touchline ban for his misconduct, while Mitrovic could be hit with a double-figure-game suspension for his red card.
It risks derailing Fulham’s positive first season back in the Premier League, with the Cottagers challenging for European football.
