Mercedes boss Toto Wolff speaks with lament when reflecting on the racing career of his wife.
Susie was a brilliant driver, so much so that in 2014 she became the first female since 1992 to compete in a Formula 1 session.
Susie, Williams’ test driver at the time, stepped into the cockpit for British Grand Prix practice, finishing 15th out of 22.

“She was within a few 10ths of (Williams driver) Felipe Massa,” Wolff recalled in an interview with the Financial Times.
“The final chance was denied.
“Never dared to make that call.”
Wolff still rues the fact his wife wasn’t handed a Formula 1 drive despite the fact he had the power at Mercedes to give her a seat, whether at the expense of Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg.
He believes it is “not realistic” to expect a mixed-gender grid in the next decade.
“I’m sure there are girls out there that can make it on merit,” Wolff said, alluding to a stigma.
