F1 star’s desperate plea to door-knocking fans

Ferrari star Charles Leclerc has pleaded with Formula 1 fans to leave him alone after his home address was leaked online.

The Monegasque, who resides in the principality to the south of France, took to Instagram to ask for privacy.

Ferrari fans, known as the Tifosi, are a passionate bunch who often pack out Italian circuits Monza and Imola.

However, the latest fanfare is a step too far for the 25-year-old.

“Hey everyone, for the past few months my home address has somehow become public, leading to people gathering beneath my apartment, ringing my bell, and asking for pictures and autographs,” Leclerc wrote.

“While I’m always happy to be there for you and I truly appreciate your support, please respect my privacy and refrain from coming to my house.

“I’ll make sure to stop for everyone when you see me on the streets or at the track, but I won’t be coming downstairs if you visit my home.

“Your support, both in person and on social media, means the world to me, but there is a boundary that should not be crossed. Happy Easter everyone.”

Leclerc has endured a tough start to this season with the Scuderia.

He sits 10th in the drivers’ championship having retired from two of the three races this season.

His only points finish to date remains seventh place in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Teammate Carlos Sainz occupies fifth in the championship standings with finishes of fourth, sixth, and 12th across Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Australia.

With his two wins, two-time champ Max Verstappen sits atop the standings for Red Bull just ahead of teammate Serio Perez.

Two-time champion Fernando Alonso sits third in the order for Aston Martin while seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton holds down fourth.

The Formula 1 season continues on the streets of Azerbaijan on April 28-30.
