Extraction 3: Chris Hemsworth Announces Another Sequel Is in the Works

It’s official – Extraction 3 is in the works.

Announced today at Netflix’s Tudum by Chris Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave, the upcoming Extraction 3 will once again star Hemsworth as black ops mercenary Tyler Rake.

Extraction debuted on Netflix in 2020 with Chris Hemsworth suiting up as the former Australian SAS operator for a deadly mission to save an Indian crime lord’s kidnapped son. It soon clinched Netflix’s biggest movie opening with a staggering 99 million views over the film’s first four weeks.

Extraction 2 saw Hemsworth return as Rake to save his ex-wife’s sister Ketevan and her children. They were taken hostage by her gangster husband Davit Radiani in the world’s deadliest prison – now it’s Rake’s job to get them back.

Soon after the first film, writers and producers the Russo Brothers revealed that they were planning an Extraction cinematic universe.

The upcoming sequel will no doubt put Chris Hemsworth back in the hot seat, on yet-another high-stakes rescue mission.

IGN’s Extraction 2 review gave it 7/10 and said: “Extraction 2 is an action-packed movie that has absolutely no intention of rewriting the rules of the genre. Director Sam Hargrave and star Chris Hemsworth honor the extraness of action sequels that go to any means necessary to thrust their seemingly invincible heroes into another round of shootouts, beatdowns, and physical punishment galore.”
