Explained: How Sony is trying to improve PlayStation games on PC – Times of India

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, along with other games that are arriving later in the year, is expected to release for PlayStation as well as for PCs. To improve PlayStation games on PCs, Sony has recently introduced a new section on the PlayStation website. This latest section is solely dedicated to PlayStation games that are available on PC.
However, according to a report by PlayStationLifestyle, some of the wording on the new section of the PlayStation website hints that PSN account integration may be coming soon to PCs. The PlayStation games for PC section on the website also lists all of the available games, such as God of War, Days Gone, and Horizon Zero Dawn, as well as the titles already announced for release this year, the report mentions.
What is a PSN account
PlayStation Network (PSN) is a digital entertainment service mainly designed for PlayStation consoles. Users can utilise their PSN accounts to download games for playing as well as streaming apps to watch TV and movies. PC users can create an account by visiting the Sony Entertainment Network.

How PSN accounts may improve PlayStation games on PC
As per the report, the PlayStation games for PC section on Sony’s website also has an FAQ section where one of the questions asks if players need a PSN account to play PlayStation games on PC. The answer provided by the site says: “No, you currently do not need a PSN account to enjoy PlayStation Studios games on PC.”
The report suggests that the word “currently” is confusing and the wording seems to imply that the requirement for a PSN account to play PlayStation games on PC might be included in the upcoming days.
This change will help players to earn trophies for playing games like Spider-Man on PC. Instead of receiving the Steam achievements, players will be rewarded with PS trophies for playing PlayStation games. PSN accounts are also expected to allow players to communicate with their PSN friends while playing the game.

Apart from that, these accounts are also likely other important features like — cross-play and cross-save progression among others. However, the report states that the cross-play feature will only be applicable if Sony decides to bring its multiplayer titles to PC. Moreover, Sony might also be developing its PC game launcher, the report suggests.
On the other hand, recently, Microsoft has alleged Sony of paying game developers “blocking rights” to prevent their games from being included in the Xbox Game Pass. Furthermore, current rumours suggest that the PS5 console might soon get a dedicated app which has been missing for a long time.
