Expert claims to spot gesture that shows Meghan was ‘jealous of Kate’

American body language expert Jesus Enrique Rosas analysed Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry back in 2021 on his YouTube channel The Body Language Guy. He claimed that by studying Meghan’s gestures and other non-verbal communication during the interview, he can tell “if she was genuinely in pain or if she was playing the victim” and if her “struggle was real”.

The body language expert explained that facial expressions can reveal if people try to hide pain because of a negative memory.

He opined that Prince Harry, born a royal, was probably trained to behave in front of the cameras and while Meghan is an actress, she was “talking about personal affairs” here.

The expert explained that there is always “an emotional component when people talk about these topics”, so it is “very likely that we could catch emotional reactions” in Meghan’s answers.

Interestingly, Jesus claimed that one of Meghan’s gestures during the interview suggests she was “jealous” of Kate, Princess of Wales.

When Meghan was asked if she made Kate cry at her wedding, as some people claimed in the past, the Duchess of Sussex answered: “The narrative with Kate, which didn’t happen, was really, really difficult and something that… I think that’s when everything changed, really.”

Jesus pointed out that when recalling that situation Meghan does two things: she moves her eyes to the right, “to her creative side”, and at the same time she presses her lips.

The expert opined that the lip pressing could be that she is upset about the accusations, but “the eyes averting to her right signal that she’s not in memory mode but instead, in creative mode”.

When she was asked directly “Did you make Kate cry?” she simply said: “No.” Jesus claimed that here, two gestures suggest that Meghan was “lying”.

“She does a different kind of lip press this time, in which her lips turn upward and near her nose. She is not confident about what she is saying.

“And what’s more, if you pay attention just to the left side of her face, you can see that she is showing contempt and joy.

“Neither of those emotions goes with what she’s saying. That way we can assume that she’s lying at that moment.”

Meghan continued and said that it was actually Kate who made her cry. “The reverse happened,” she claimed.

Jesus suggested that “right after saying that ‘the reverse happened’, she does a tongue show and again averted her eyes to her right”.

“A tongue show can be a quick way to moisten your lips, but it’s also a signal that people regret having said something. So, if you stack the deceit signals you know that that part of the story is fabricated.”

Here is where the expert spotted a “facial expression clue that Meghan could be jealous of Kate”.

“When she talks about her, she raises her left eyebrow more often. That’s an emotional reaction that we should consider,” the expert claimed.

The body language guru explained, however, that the gestures Meghan does with her hands at some point during the interview show she is being honest and genuine.

When talking about her wedding, the Duchess of Sussex explained: “It was like having an out-of-body experience I was very present for, and that’s the only way I can describe it, because the night before I slept through the night…”

Jesus opined: “Her hand gestures when she is talking about the wedding are in sync with her words. As she recalls her wedding day, both her facial expressions, her hands and her words are in sync with one another. We can assume that she’s being truthful here.”
