Marvel Comics presents an exclusive preview of The Last Annihilation: Wiccan & Hulkling, by Anthony Oliveira and Jan Bazaldua.
Marvel Comics has given CBR an exclusive preview of The Last Annihilation: Wiccan & Hulkling #1, by Anthony Oliveira, Jan Bazaldua, Rachelle Rosenberg and VC’s Ariana Maher. In the preview, Billy Kaplan/Wiccan realizes Dormammu’s attack has an even more sinister purpose.
The Last Annihilation: Wiccan & Hulkling #1 is part of the titular crossover, which has seen Dormammu possess Ego the Living Planet. From there, the classic Doctor Strange has set out to conquer five planets, including Skrullos and Hala. Earlier in the crossover, Wiccan left to protect Skrullos, while Teddy Altman/Hulkling remained to defend Hala.
The Last Annihilation: Wiccan & Hulkling #1 picks up with Wiccan fighting off Dormammu’s soldiers from the Dark Dimension. He’s soon aided by Commander Abigail Brand and S.W.O.R.D. However, Mur-G’nn soon tells him that Hulkling’s sword — Excelsior — has been destroyed by the villain’s forces. While Mur-G’nn worries about Hulkling, Billy is confident that his husband is still alive.
Billy is instead more concerned about Dormammu’s plans for Skrullos. At first Dormammu’s attack, which focuses on “ancient towns” and “minor temples,” doesn’t make much sense to any of the heroes, but Wiccan soon observes, “This is a spiritual incursion. Dormammu’s targeting symbols. He wants to conquer the spirit.” This revelation leads them to Ny’ni-ahn, where they suspect Dormammu will strike hard.
Elsewhere, on Hala, things aren’t going so well for Hulkling, either. Even with the aid of such heavy-hitters as Phyla-Vell, Dormammu’s forces are gaining ground. Things get even worse for the crew when Avalanche takes out a bridge, dropping them into a yawning chasm.
