EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Debuts Wolverine #18 Covers by Maleev, Land & D’Armata

Logan, Maverick and C.I.A. agent Jeff Bannister appear on two variant covers for November’s Wolverine #18, which promises an on-the-run spy story.

Wolverine is ready to slice and dice his pursuers in two new covers for November’s Wolverine #18.

CBR can exclusively reveal the variants: one illustrated by Alex Maleev, the other by Greg Land with colors by Frank D’Armata. Maleev’s cover has Wolverine about to dig his claws into the enemies of Krakoa, while the Land and D’Armata cover shows Logan alongside Maverick and C.I.A. agent Jeff Bannister.

Written by Benjamin Percy and illustrated by Lan Medina, Wolverine #18 features Logan — a special ops member of X-Force, the de facto C.I.A. of mutant haven Krakoa — protecting Jeff Bannister, an agent of the actual C.I.A.

Percy previously hinted that the newest arc in his Wolverine run would be a spy story resembling the 1998 action thriller Enemy of the State. Issue #17 follows Wolverine and Maverick as they team up, with Bannister fleeing from both mutant shadowy forces and the U.S. government after he discovers a surveillance device intended to monitor Krakoa, a plot thread that will continue into Issue #18.

Previous issues of Wolverine saw the X-Man grappling with his new place in Krakoa, battling Dracula’s Vampire Nation and reuniting with rivals Omega Red and Solem.

Wolverine #18 releases on Nov. 3 from Marvel Comics.
