Exams Are Imminent! – Callum Andrews, Tiffin School
I am absolutely terrible at revision; I sit down at my desk and that’s enough for the day. It’s not just laziness, something about revision just does not click for me. Well, it might be a bit of laziness! As my end of year exams loom ever nearer, I am desperately scrambling for a solution for this aversion to revision.
After extensive searching, I believed that I had discovered a cure. When I posed the question, the resounding answer was, focus on certain aspects and take more breaks. It is easier to tackle numerous minor tasks with breaks in between than tackle the whole of a subject over a packed 24 hour period. These findings reassured me and had me eager to get to work, until I actually sat down and started working. The problem with taking lots of breaks for me is that these breaks somehow get larger and larger until they consume the revision time and I am just relaxing all day long.
I do hear the warnings but I simply cannot get myself to work. Hopefully, as the exams slowly approach, their sheer proximity will kick me into action. If you’re like me, this advice will go right in one ear and out the other. But hopefully some will find some assistance within this article and for those who it doesn’t help, may God help us.
