Exam Stress Got You Down

Speaking to Ria Joshi, she tells of how she is “stressed but excited for it to be over” and another student, Nabeha Sajid tells how she is “worried for the outcome” – these statements mirroring that of their hundreds of peers across the nation. But with the many students overcome with stress and anxiety, outnumbering the few seemingly without, the big question asked, year on year is ‘How can we provide support to our students, friends, children, nieces and nephews currently about to go through some of the most important exams of their life?”

One way we can support those going through public examinations is through support being more easily accessible to student even through schooling or just being a general shoulder to the stress burdening the pupil. Furthermore, the understanding that going through exams, the understanding that feeling unprepared or insecure about your subjects is not the end all and is nothing to embarrassed about, given through teachers and family who are evidently the biggest providers of stress among students. Finally, everyone understands the stress of going through some sort of pressuring experience, whether that be a drivers test or a job interview and that would be seen as important to oneself in that moment just like these exams are important for students undertaking them so empathy and sympathy towards these students is key, even if you cannot specifically relate.
