Exact date Steam users could be at risk of losing your gaming library
AN URGENT warning has been issued to all Steam users that they risk losing access to their gaming library in months.
The biggest online storefront for PC games is now threatening the safety of thousands of gaming libraries amid a new change.
Players who use Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 will no longer be able to store or play games through Steam.
This will be affective from January 1, 2024 as Google is set to remove support for Chrome on these operating systems.
Even if gamers have downloaded games before the cut-off date, they will still be inaccessible.
The key to continued gaming bliss is simply upgrading to a version of Windows 10 or higher.
To find out if you will be affected, you can check which Windows operating system your computer is running on in Settings.
A statement from Steam reads: “As of January 1, 2024, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems.
“After that date, the Steam Client will no longer run on those versions of Windows.
“In order to continue running Steam and any games or other products purchased through Steam, users will need to update to a more recent version of Windows.
“In addition, future versions of Steam will require Windows feature and security updates only present in Windows 10 and above.”
