Ex-Arsenal ace lined up for shock move to play in Italy’s FOURTH DIVISION
FORMER Arsenal forward Gervinho is reportedly on the verge of landing a shock move to play in Italy’s FOURTH TIER.
The 36-year-old forward shot to prominence with football fans in England back in 2011.
Following an impressive spell at Lille in France, Arsene Wenger splashed out almost £11m to bring the Ivory Coast ace to the Emirates.
But Gervinho scored just 11 times in 63 games for the Gunners in a two-year spell.
Since then his career has taken him across the globe as he first headed to Roma for three seasons.
The 2015 African Cup of Nations winner then moved to China to sign for Hebei China Fortune after 17 goals in 71 matches in Serie A.
Gervinho stayed in China for two seasons, but only found the net four times in 24 appearances, before returning to Italy with Parma.
He played three campaigns in Serie A but managed to secure his exit, a year after going AWOL in an attempt to leave, in 2021.
Turkish side Trabzonspor announced him as their new signing and he scored on his debut for the club in a 5–1 win over Yeni Malatyaspor.
But he was on the move again just 12 months later after an injury-hit campaign limited him to just nine matches – although he still managed to pick up a Super Lig winner’s medal.

Gervinho, who began his career in Belgium at Beveren, then ventured to another new country when he signed for Aris in the Greek Super League.
But after just one goal and 11 appearances during his 12-month stay, Calciomercato are now claiming ambitious Serie D side Trapani are “dreaming” of bringing him back to Italy.
Trapani club president Valerio Antonini confirmed the interest in the veteran.
He said: “We have identified players of important stature and functional to the tactical credo of our coach.
“I want to give a gift to the city.”
However, the Sicilian based-club, who were in Serie B as recently as 2019, could be priced out of a move.
Antonini also admitted that “he asked for too high a sum” to join them, putting the bold transfer move on hold for now.
