Everything You Need to Know About Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris Expansion

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s second major expansion, The Siege of Paris, is almost here, taking the series back to Paris 7 years after Assassin’s Creed Unity, albeit in a different time period. The expansion takes place before the end of the base game, so new players can jump in without fearing talk of any spoilers from Valhalla’s main narrative. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming expansion, releasing on August 12.

What’s New in The Siege of Paris Expansion ?

Aside from taking place in the kingdom of Francia, the new Siege of Paris expansion will also add some new gameplay mechanics. Chief among these are the new ‘infiltration opportunities’, which like Unity’s ‘black-box missions’, will offer players multiple ways to assassinate targets, with no ‘linear’ path. It’s a welcome (and required) change of pace from the main game where the assassinations didn’t leave much room to explore, with most of them ending in the same way for all players.

Paris and its lush countryside offers a slightly different visuals from England

The expansion also introduces a new mission type called ‘Rebel Missions’, which feature AI controlled rebels to help Eivor in her new tasks of freeing Paris from its tyrannical ruler. The Siege of Paris also adds a new weapon type – the Scythe, along with a new heavy enemy type.

The expansion also adds a new mechanic including rats, which isn’t too far from how A Plague Tale: Innocence made use of the tiny creatures to instill a sense of dread. Similar to that game, in The Siege of Paris, these rats can be weaponized by Eivor to use against her enemies.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – The Siege of Paris Has New Assassin Tombs, gear and secrets

Paris also includes some new secrets, including new, hidden Assassin gear. While they’re not extremely different from those found in the base game, they do serve the narrative purpose of filling in the gaps of how the Hidden ones operated in the city of Paris in the 9th century.
