Eurovision fans distracted by Lithuanian singer’s hair during semi-finals

Fans of the Eurovision are flocking to social media to praise the semi-finals of the singing contest, which is airing on BBC One tonight (May 10). Although it is a singing contest, one of the acts actually stole the show with her haircut, distracting viewers from the her performance. Monika Liu, representing Lithuania, has a bowl cut hairstyle which fans have likened to TV characters and film stars.

The eye catching hairstyle was even touched on by host Rylan Clark who said that it is “100 per cent real”. Strangely, he also said that Monika “loved cheesecake”. Among Rylan’s comments were those fans who “couldn’t believe” the singer’s hair was “not a wig”.

Other fans said that Monika looked like “Edna” from the Incredibles and even famous politician Anne Widdecombe. Despite the jokes Monika’s voice was actually praised and she gained fans for her original song choice that she wrote herself.

Another one added: “Are you wearing the —Ann Widdecombe hair? Yes I am.” #Eurovision.”

The contest goes on all week and the final will take place on Sunday. The UK’s entry is Sam Ryder with his song Spaceman.
