Escape to the Chateau stars Dick and Angel Strawbridge have significantly increased their wealth since being axed by Channel 4.

The broadcaster and production company Two Rivers Media dropped the couple and their show after they were placed under investigation for an unknown reason.

The probe followed multiple accusations about Dick, 63, and Angel’s, 45, behaviour, with insiders

claiming to Deadline that they clashed with producers, while a further source alleged they were a ‘nightmare to work with.’

The same outlet also obtained audio, heard by Metro.co.uk, in which it is claimed Angel can be heard calling a producer a ‘f***ing c**t’ and describing how ‘f***ing angry’ she was.

Despite the accusations and their TV career with Channel 4 ending, the couple has seen their income nearly double in the past year.

According to Companies House, their firm TShirt Patisserie Limited, which accounts for revenue gained for ‘retail sale of new goods in specialised stores’, has seen profits soar form £270,000 to £688,000.

Their TV production companies Chateau Television and Jera Enterprises incomes, meanwhile, shot up from £50,000 to £286,000 and £13,500 to £470,500 respectively.

The figures show the companies earnt £1.44million in the last 12 month, nearly double the £777,000 recorded the previous year.

It comes after it was reported Dick and Angel closed down a company that bears the chateau’s name.

The private company was initially set up in 2017, but the application to close it was made on May 9 this year by the directors Dick and Angel.

The website for the Chateau, where the couple also lives, informs visitors that they are currently working on a backlog of weddings due to Covid-19 so are not taking new bookings, while events including ‘Chateau Under the Stars’ and ‘Working Garden Day’ are currently unavailable.

Dick and Angel addressed the accusations about their conduct for the first time on May 26, insisting there were ‘two sides to every story.

They wrote: ‘We know there are lots of stories in the press right now. It’s not worth us even trying to comment or give context, because anything can be made into a good headline. We understand. There are two sides to every story and from the incredible support we have received, most of you know that.’

The couple stressed that ending Escape to the Chateau was ‘a Strawbridge Family decision’.

Dick and Angel will also embark on a 33-date theatre tour later this year with a show entitled Dick and Angel – Forever Home (Avec Le Nitty Gritty).
