Erling Haaland’s dad speaks out on being ‘kicked out’ of Bernabeu box vs Madrid
City dominated proceedings in Spain from the off, missing several key chances as Madrid failed to get to grips with the intensity of their opponents. However, in true Los Blancos style, Carlo Ancelotti’s side took the lead against the run of play when Vinicius Jr blasted a fierce strike past Ederson from outside of the box in the 36th minute.
Pep Guardiola’s side hit back in the 67th minute through Kevin De Bruyne with an equally sensational strike. The Belgian drilled a thundering effort into the bottom corner past international teammate Thibaut Courtois, sending the away supporters at the Bernabeu into a frenzy.
Alf-Inge also was ecstatic as he watched his son take to the big stage, openly celebrating the leveller with his friends despite being sat just metres away from Madrid supporters. The home fans hurled abuse at the Norwegian, much to his amusement, alerting staff to the situation.
Footage showed Haaland senior play up to the attention, continuing to openly celebrate De Bruyne’s goal before cupping his ear and encouraging backlash before security stepped in and appeared to escort the former City star and his friends to a different area in the stadium – away from the eye of furious Madrid supporters.
Speaking about the incident, Haaland tweeted: “Ok. RM (Real Madrid) was not happy we were celebrating KDB (Kevin De Bruyne’s) goal. Other than that we had to move because RM fans not happy with 1-1.”
