‘Enthusiastic’ Princess Charlotte will use her freedoms ‘to the max’ – claim
As the only daughter of Kate and Prince William, she is often a spectacle of the family when they’re spotted out in public, even in the company of her older brother Prince George and younger sibling, Prince Louis.
Now enjoying their long summer break, Charlotte and her brothers have made several appearances alongside their parents, giving onlookers a glimpse into the relationship between the Prince and Princess of Wales and the young royals.
And one that stands out is the bond between 41-year-old Kate and eight-year-old Charlotte, who were seen sharing a sweet moment together at the recent Wimbledon final.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, body language expert Judi James claimed that the event showed a glimpse of what’s to come for the youthful Princess as she reaches her teenage years.
Judi said that the footage of the mother and daughter duo at the tennis showed how Charlotte “mirrors” Kate’s “poise and calm elegance”.
She continued: “Kate’s role-modelling for Charlotte seems to have prompted and grown not just confidence, but also given Kate a sense of increasing friendship with her daughter too, with shared interests and bouts of affection and fun.
“Charlotte not only moves and poses like her mother, but she also takes on her role of checking her two siblings too, sharing some of the traits of keeping a watchful eye on George and Louis and stepping in to nudge or correct them when necessary at formal royal occasions.
“But Kate is clearly aware that her daughter is still young and however calm and confident she might seem she will still be in need of a little support and affection now and again, especially when royal events are long-lasting.”
The interaction between Charlotte and her mother at the Wimbledon final highlighted the Princess of Wales’s adaptable parenting, which Judi claimed switched between a friend and “mothering mode”.
She claimed that this was noticeable when Kate placed a hand under Charlotte’s cin and engaged in an “attentive and loving eye contact” with her daughter.
Judi explained: “These are reward rituals that both Kate and William use to show proximity, attention and approval for their children at royal events. The tactile tie-signs will help motivate them and understand that, although their mother and father are acting as Prince and Princess, they’re still there to be mum and dad for their children too.”
However, their sweet maternal gestures are not restrictive of their charismatic children, according to the body language expert.
Judi noted that there’s no doubt Charlotte will eventually garner interest in being a fashion icon just like Princess Kate, noting their existing stylish status is indicative of “what’s to come”.
She added: “But like her mother and her great-aunt Anne she should have choices, too. Anne always side-stepped being a clothes horse and Kate always proves she is more than that one facet, too.
“Charlotte should-like her brothers – have much more freedom to choose her own brand and to focus on any facet of her personality that she chooses.
“She is clearly getting to an age when she will be picking her own clothes and look and, although Kate might still be a role model, she could easily choose a very different look that suits her own unique personality.
“We’ve already seen her throwing as much energy and enthusiasm into sports as she does enjoying pop acts and her responses at Wimbledon were spontaneous and emphatic enough to suggest she won’t be feeling too many boundaries too soon.
“Kate and William clearly want their children to enjoy being royal and to enjoy as much choice as possible in how they interpret their destiny.
“Charlotte’s signals of confidence suggest she might use those choices to the max.”
