England’s best and worst GP surgeries ranked – check your local practice scores

More than 400 GP surgeries in England have received an “inadequate” or “requires improvement” rating in their latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

However, 349 surgeries have also scored “outstanding”, according to the regulator.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

It inspects health providers and allocates them one of four overall ratings: outstanding, good, requires improvement, or inadequate.

A total of 62 GPs received the “inadequate” rating in the latest data inspection.

The data also suggests that London is the region that saw the highest proportion of inadequate surgeries, with 21 of them being located in this area.

Some of the GP surgeries that received an inadequate rating from CQC include:

  • Caskgate Street Surgery in Gainsborough
  • Sheffield City GP Health Centre in Sheffield
  • Great Barr Medical Centre in Birmingham
  • Severn Surgery in Leicester
  • Basildon University Hospital in Basildon
  • Wordsworth Health Centre in London
  • Regency Surgery in Brighton
  • Dashwood Medical Centre in Ramsgate
  • Jubilee Park Medical Partnership in Nottingham
  • Central Clinic in Dudley.

Furthermore, 354 surgeries were deemed to require improvement, when Express.co.uk analysed the data on August 2.

On the other hand, 349 GP practices scored the highest rating of outstanding.

The CQC isn’t the only one to rate GP surgeries, as the NHS also carries out a survey where people can give their opinions on their GP every year.

An exclusive analysis of these ratings has been carried out by the Reach Data Unit to rank all practices across England.
