England stars set to be pulled from Big Bash

Several English players have been advised by the England and Wales Cricket Board to leave the Big Bash immediately, with an international tour of the Caribbean on the horizon.

England will begin a five-match series with the West Indies later this month, and are due to fly out of England in a couple of weeks.

But the board have asked the Australian-based contingent to come now and enter a week’s isolation.

The series with the West Indies will be played entirely in Barbados, and begins on January 22.

The squad for the series includes Sydney Thunder’s Sam Billings and Saqib Mahmood (Sydney Thunder), James Vince and Chris Jordan from the Sixers, Adelaide’s George Garton, Perth’s Tymal Mills and Reece Topley of the Melbourne Renegades.

Jordan had already returned home, and the others will now join him.

Billings and Mahmood played their last game for the Thunder on Sunday evening, the latter taking two wickets in the win over Adelaide.

But it was Pakistani debutant Mohammad Hasnain who stole the show, bowling a triple-wicket maiden in his first over for his new team.

He became the first-ever Big Bash player to take three wickets in his debut over in the competition.
