Enforcer’s Wallabies recall soured by video nasty
Lachie Swinton’s joy at a Wallabies recall was short-lived after the Waratahs firebrand was cited for a dangerous tackle at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.
Swinton rocked Jake Strachan in the first minute of NSW’s 36-16 victory, hitting the Force playmaker late and high after a clearing kick.
The incident went unpunished on the field but Strachan was ruled out of the second half with concussion.

But after reviewing the match, SANZAAR’s citing commissioner deemed that the hit met the red card threshold for foul play.
Swinton’s case will be considered by SANZAAR’s foul play review committee on Monday night.
A lengthy suspension seems likely for the ill-disciplined 26-year-old, who was suspended for four weeks in 2020 after being sent off for a dangerous tackle in his Test debut against the All Blacks.

He has also been a regular offender in Super Rugby Pacific.
Swinton was one of seven replacement players called into Eddie Jones’ Wallabies squad for a camp on the Gold Coast that started on Monday.
