Lorraine Kelly, 63, has been at the forefront of ITV as one of its best-loved hosts for decades, having interviewed a wide range of A-list celebrities.
However, the TV star could not contain her emotion when she met Queen Elizabeth II when she was presented with her OBE in 2010.
Looking back on her extraordinary encounter, Lorraine lifted the lid on all her nervous thoughts ahead of the meeting.
She also revealed she was so “overcome with emotion” she could not remember her conversation with the late monarch.
Lorraine recounted: “I’m still amazed I was given an OBE and then a CBE. I’ll never forget receiving my OBE from The Queen in 2010.

“I was wearing heels and my legs were shaking so much,” Lorraine added in a new interview with Prima magazine.
She continued: “I thought, ‘If I fall and squash the Queen, I’m in big trouble!’ She was wearing a bright yellow suit and, apparently, she was talking away to me, but I don’t remember any of it because I was too overcome with emotion.”
Lorraine was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2012 New Year Honours for services to charity and was promoted to Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.
The journalist had previously reflected upon the time she came face to face with the Queen, explaining: “My mum asked me what the Queen was talking to me about and I literally had no idea!”
“I was hyperventilating and crying too much,” she added during a 2019 interview with OK! Magazine.
Addressing her emotional reaction to the monarch, Lorraine added: “I was really nervous and blood was rushing to my head so all I could hear was a rushing. It was like the world had sped up.”
Revealing she had some regrets about the meeting, the presenter explained: “I would love to know what she said to me.”
