Emma Corrin slips into a lavender bodysuit… and the critics are really lilac-ing the screen star’s performance in West End hit Orlando.

Based on Virginia Woolf’s novel, the play at London’s Garrick Theatre follows Emma’s titular hero, who falls asleep as a man and wakes up a woman.

‘Michael Grandage, the director, spoke a lot about how the book was on the syllabus when he was at school, and I would love it if it was back on our school syllabuses,’ explained the 27-year-old, who identifies as non-binary.

‘It’s such a brilliant book that teaches you so much about identity and love – all these fundamental questions that we ask ourselves.’

Appearing in a series of unusual outfits, The Crown favourite added: ‘(The adaptation) is very much a celebration of theatre, as well as a celebration of queer joy and love.’

Also featured inside Elle’s March issue are Bafta-nominated actors Micheal Ward and Daryl McCormack, and other rising stars including Anya Chalotra, Rosy McEwen, Jonah Hauer-King, and Dafne Keen.
