Sir Elton John, 74, has spoken out about how he feels “lucky” to have escaped the AIDs crisis in the 1980s. The legendary singer admitted watching Channel 4 show It’s A Sin, has made him think harder about his fortune when it comes to his health.
He appreciated it so much that he wants to get the cast round his house when he returns to the UK, to thank them for a wonderful drama and highlighting the issue, including screen-writer Russel T Davies.
The series focuses on five friends living their lives as they grow up in the shadow of AIDS, determined to live and love more fiercely than ever.
Speaking on The Official Big Top 40, he said: “When I come back to England which is going to be soon, I’m going to have a dinner for all the cast of It’s A Sin at our house because I love that programme.
“It didn’t change my life but it made me realise how lucky I was to escape all that and to be reminded of what happened.
“Russell T Davies and the cast are going to come to dinner.”

He added: “We’re going to have a laugh!”
Last year, Sir Elton launched a $1 million fund to help those with HIV amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The I’m Still Standing hitmaker singer shared: “Today, I’m proud to announce that my Foundation @EJAF is launching a $1million COVID-19 Emergency Fund to make sure that our frontline partners can respond to the effects of COVID-19 on HIV care for the most marginalised communities around the world.
“Now and always, I’m committed to not leave anyone affected by HIV behind.”
He sent out a link to more information for those seeking help, before adding: “Sending love to all of our Foundation’s partners, grantees, supporters, frontline workers and members of our community during this time.”
In a post on the Elton John Aids Foundation website, they are looking for applications that will help give “solutions that have strong potential to address specific challenges that have arisen for people already living with or at severe risk of HIV/AIDS and who are now at heightened risk”.
The post read: “Such solutions should aim to demonstrably mitigate the threat of COVID-19 on maintaining current levels of access or increasing access to HIV-related prevention, testing, care and treatment adherence services.”
Elsewhere, Elton shared a rare photo of his sons on Instagram on Monday, which caused quite a stir amongst fans.

The snap showed the singer with his husband David Furnish, and their children, ten-year-old Zachary, and eight-year-old Elijah wearing personalised Versace robes as they overlooked the stunning view in Nice, France.
He captioned the post: “Grazie mille @donatella_versace. Thank-you for your generosity and kindness.
“You made our Summer so glamorous. Ti amo.”
Fashion designer Donatella Versace, was quick to react to the photo as she penned in the comments: “I love you all!! You look FABULOUS!!!”
