Elon Musk’s cheeky comment after secretly welcoming twins

Business Insider published court documents on Thursday that the Tesla CEO fathered twins with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis in November 2021.

According to the outlet, a petition was filed to change the twins’ names in order to “have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name”.

The SpaceX boss took to Twitter and alluded to the baby news by tweeting about the “underpopulation crisis.”

“Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis. A collapsing birthrate is the biggest danger civilization [sic] faces by far,” he wrote.

In follow up tweets, the billionaire added: “Mark my words, they are sadly true” and “I hope you have big families and congrats to those who already do!”

The twins were born just weeks before Musk and now-ex girlfriend Grimes welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Exa Dark Sideræl, via surrogate in December 2021. They also share two-year-old son X Æ A-Xii.

The businessman is now a father of 9 children.

He shares 18-year-old twins Vivian Jenna and Griffin, and 16-year-old triplets, Kai, Saxon and Damian, with his first wife, Justine Wilson.

Their eldest son, Nevada, tragically died at ten weeks old from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 2002.

This is not the first time Musk has shared his thoughts about increasing the birthrate.

Last year, the Tesla CEO stated at the Wall Street Journal’s annual CEO Council that there are “not enough people” in the world.

“I think one of the biggest risks to civilization [sic] is the low birth rate and the rapidly declining birthrate,” he said.

“Please look at the numbers –– if people don’t have more children, civilization is going to crumble, mark my words.”
