Elon Musk bats for new features for Twitter Blue users; also asks if Twitter HQ should be made a homeless shelter
Twitter Blue is the premium version of the microblogging platform where a user has to pay a monthly subscription ($3/month) to get access to premium features on the site.
According to the Tesla CEO Musk, those who will sign up for Twitter Blue will get an authentication mark. In addition, they will be able to edit tweets in 20 seconds time. He also said that Twitter Blue will not show any advertisements to the user.
“The power of corporations to dictate policy is greatly enhanced if Twitter depends on advertising money to survive,” he said in his tweet.
He also tweeted another poll on Sunday wherein he asked users if the Twitter San Francisco headquarters should be converted into a homeless shelter, “since no one shows up anyway.” The poll received a whopping 572,815 votes in the first three hours. The poll will end in 24 hours.
All this comes after he was appointed to the Board following him getting a 9.2% stake in Twitter last week. Last week, he had even tweeted a poll on whether Twitter should bring in an edit button.

The very next day Twitter tweeted that it has been working on an edit feature for the last one year and even distinctly mentioned that this was not an afterthought after the poll.
The social media platform said it will test the feature in its paid service, Twitter Blue, in the coming months. It said the test would help it “learn what works, what doesn’t, and what’s possible”. So it may be a while before most Twitter users get to use it if they ever do.
Twitter blue is currently available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In these regions, Twitter Blue is available for in-app purchases on Twitter for iOS and Android, or on
twitter.com through its payment partner Stripe.
