Ellie Goulding praises Tom Grennan after comment about her body at Brits
Ellie Goulding still thinks highly of her pal Tom Grennan despite him facing backlash for a comment about her breasts on-stage at the Brit Awards 2023.
The two musicians appeared together at the star-studded ceremony in London on Saturday, to co-present the award for best new artist, which was won by Wet Leg.
However, before announcing the winner, Tom, 27, and Ellie, 36, did the typical presenting bit of freestyling a little chat between them.
Little Bit Of Love singer Tom couldn’t help but remark on the black corset with an armoured pair of breasts which Ellie was wearing for the night.
‘I love what you’re doing – they’re your real boobs?’ Tom asked, sparking criticism from viewers.
It seems Ellie wasn’t too offended by the comment as the Love Me Like You Do singer later shared a photo of herself hugging Tom during the awards ceremony, while another showed the pair catching up with Hollywood actress Salma Hayek backstage.
She wrote: ‘Such a great time with this gentleman @tom.grennan this evening – thanks for being a great co-host and congrats to @wetlegband.’
Many have branded Tom’s remark ‘inappropriate’, with one commenting on Twitter: ‘Totally insulting inappropriate comments #TomGrennan #Brits2023 @SonyMusicUK [sic].’
Another wrote: ‘He definitely put himself in an uncomfortable place with Ellie Goulding just now [sic]’.
One other said: ‘Tom Grennan thinking it was appropriate to ask Ellie Goulding if they were her real boobs, on the Brits stage, just gave me the quickest ick in a while. Like instantaneous sick in my mouth.’
During the interaction, Ellie didn’t gloss over Tom’s question about her breasts, and replied: ‘No, these are not mine. I wish, mine are a lot further apart, sadly. I wish.’
The Brit Awards 2023 is available to watch on ITVX.
