Eels star’s big blow after unexpected loss

Parramatta Eels halfback Mitchell Moses will be a crucial loss for the side heading into round eleven after suffering an injury setback against the Titans.

With just under ten minutes left in the 26-24 loss to the Gold Coast, Moses was taken from the field for a Head Injury Assessment (HIA) after his head was caught in the wrong position when tackling Keano Kini.

Moses concussion was graded category one and the State of Origin representative will now sit out for a mandatory eleven days.

“He’s fine now, but obviously wasn’t good,” Parramatta coach Brad Arthur said post-match.

Having suffered a concussion during last season’s finals series, Arthur was asked whether there would be a consideration to give Moses more time off than required, however the coach was non-committal.

“I don’t know, we need to get all the advice from our doctors but at the end of the day the rules are eleven days, so he’ll go through the process then they’ll make a decision on what’s best for Mitchell,” he said.

Arthur added son Jake Arthur would “at this stage probably” be the replacement for Moses as the side prepares to face the ninth-placed Raiders next Saturday at Canberra.

Eels stroll over with ease

Having scored first through Maika Sivo, and almost pulled off a second half comeback from 16-4 down at half-time, Arthur was at a loss to how his side managed to come away from Magic Round with defeat.

“I just asked the team then, how did we lose that?” he said.

“I thought we did more than enough to win it, I thought our effort was really good.

“We did a lot of good things, more good things than bad but a couple of big moments and a couple of system errors in defence hurt us.”
