EE customers just realising they can bag FREE unlimited data upgrade

CUSTOMERS of network provider EE are eligible for a once-a-year offer of unlimited data – all without paying a penny.

It’s perfect for having Wi-Fi on the run.

However, there are two catches.

Firstly, you have to wait until its your birthday.

And secondly, the offer is only available on selected accounts for about a month until the gift is rescinded.

 So, it won’t work for customers on a pay as you go deal.

But when that day of the year swings around, many customers will get a text from EE, saying: “To say thanks for being part of the EE family, we’ve got you a special birthday teat – 30 days of free unlimited data.”

All you need to do is follow the SMS instructions of texting texting ‘Yes’ to 1216 to accept the gift.

It’s wise to set a reminder in your phone to make sure the upgrade is cancelled after the 30 days.

If you received the message, sent ‘Yes’ to 1216 but got no reply – fear not.

A handful of customers have reported having this issue, but the offer sometimes takes a few days to activate.

Customers who did take up the EE offer reported being tempted by an even more cost-effective gift 12 months later.

EE offers customers unlimited data for the rest of their contract for just £6.24 per month, a year after accepting the initial birthday boost.

While users save £30 for accepting the one-time unlimited data offer, customers can save up to £25 per month for the rest of their contract in accepting EE’s later upgrade.

That’s a yearly saving of £300.

Some hawkish EE customers thought the surprise text could be a scam – but it’s perfectly legitimate.

However, make sure the message meets the exact format in the image above, and that the text is coming from EE_Offers.
